As the estate has a TRA holding Enhanced Meetings, the Hackney Homes Environmental Improvement Budget (EIB) is available. The EIB can be used to pursue a wide variety of projects, although the main criteria for successful EIB proposals are: 1) that it improves the communal area, and 2) that Hackney Homes have the requisite in-house capacity to carry out the request. The amount available is based upon the number of properties on the estate, and our budget is £21,462.50.
The kinds of projects that can be proposed include:
Maintenance such as painting, minor repairs, fencing, paving, tarmacadum, tiling, and flooring.
Signs: the supply and fitting of notice boards (wall-mounted or free-standing) and signs that can be tailored to specific functions (e.g. ‘No Dog Fouling,’ ‘No Ball Games,’ etc.).
Grounds Maintenance such as planting flowers, shrubs and trees, the pruning of trees, and the fitting of planters.
Play Areas, in particular works associated with playgrounds: the installation of play equipment, the laying of safe-surfacing or tarmac, and upgrade works to gates and fencing of playgrounds.
Electrical Work such as internal and external lighting, and the installation of wall-pack lighting.
